Aeriel Footage Shows Changes in Halema‘uma‘u Crater at Kilauea Summit

<br /> <p>New aerial footage released by the United States Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory gives a glimpse of the changes that have occurred within Halema‘uma‘u crater at the summit of Kilauea since the volcano began to erupt ash in mid-May.</p><p>This drone footage, taken on May 31, shows various cracks and faults that have formed since the volcano began its series of recent eruptions.</p><p>According to information on the USGS website, yellow sulfur precipitate is visible on the floor of the crater along with ballistic blocks, which are solidified pieces of old lava.
