Metropolitan Police have arrested a man in south London on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.<br /><br />Video filmed by an eyewitness on Sunday evening (June 3) shows police detaining the man on Landor Road in Clapham, who can be heard ranting at officers.<br /><br />Video shown from a bedroom window overlooking the incident also shows an officer holding a container, inside which is a large knife.<br /><br />In a statement, Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at 20:38hrs on Sunday, 3 June to reports of a man armed with a knife in Prideaux Road, SW9.<br /><br />"Officers attended and located the suspect in nearby Landor Road, SW9.<br /><br />"A Taser was deployed but not discharged.<br /><br />"Officers recovered a knife at the scene."<br /><br />Although no injuries were reported in this case, the police said, London has been blighted by a rise in knife and gun crime in 2018.<br /><br />At least 37 people have been fatally stabbed in London since the start of the year, according to UK media.
