<p>Clouds of steam rose over Kapoho Bay on Hawaii’s Big Island after a stream of lava from the Kilauea volcano made contact with the sea on Monday, June 4.</p><p>The USGS shared aerial footage showing the lava from Fissure 8 forming a delta in Kapoho Bay. The agency earlier tweeted</a> that locals had reported seeing lava on the shore of Kapoho Bay on Sunday evening.</p><p>Hawaii Civil Defense</a> warned residents to avoid contact with the “laze” steam, which can contain hydrochloric acid and volcanic glass particles.
