<p>Debris from the 83 containers that fell from a Taiwanese ship off the coast of Port Stephens, New South Wales, on May 31</a> washed up a beach on the other side of the Salamander Bay.</p><p>Conservation group Econetwork Port Stephens’ Nigel Dique</a> and other volunteers had been helping in cleanup efforts in the aftermath of the spill. He told Storyful he found foam and packing materials along the Wanda Beach.</p><p>“This kind of pollution… when it breaks up can be deadly for fish, turtles and seabirds that mistake it for food,” Dique said.</p><p>SBS</a> reported the debris could continue to pollute the area for several months.
