<p>Hundreds gathered in the streets of Ramallah on Sunday, June 10, demanding the Palestinian Authority lift sanctions against the West Bank.</p><p>According to reports</a>, the protest and chants were a call to action against President Mahmoud Abbas and the sanctions and to show solidarity with Gaza Strip areas under similar sanction.</p><p>Security officials dressed in plainclothes were also at the rally in order to prevent the march, the report said.</p><p>Abbas had been criticized for months for his sanctions, with one report</a> saying his policies are bad for Palestinians and Israel.
