<p>US President Donald Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un met for the first time on June 12 as the two leaders particpated in a historic summit at the Capella Hotel on Singapore’s Sentosa island.</p><p>The two leaders shook hands as they kicked off the summit, which aimed to ease the nuclear standoff between the two countries.</p><p>The US objective during the summit is “the complete, and verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo</a>.
