The sad truth is school shootings are a part of American life and have become too frequent. The overlooked fact is this is not a new occurrence. The first American school shooting happened in 1840 and have happened in each decade since. <br /><br />The major differences are, the access to weapons, amount of schools, and reduced mental health access. You'll notice school shooting increase as mental health access was decreased. At the same time, the overall amount of schools and weapons were increased.
