Taco Spice Seasoning Recipe 3 Ways<br /><br />We get it… Buying a package or jar of pre made taco seasoning is super easy and convenient. But; making it yourself at home is also pretty easy, it keeps for a long time, and you can control flavour and salt levels. Plus you get to play around and have something that is uniquely your own. Here we show you 3 homemade taco spice blends, these are great on beef, pork, lamb, and shrimp!<br /><br />Ingredients:<br />1 Tbsp (15 mL) salt<br />1 Tbsp (15 mL) pepper<br />1 Tbsp (15 mL) ground cumin<br />1 Tbsp (15 mL) paprika<br />1 Tbsp (15 mL) chili pepper<br />1 tsp (5 mL) garlic powder<br />1 tsp (5 mL) onion powder<br />1 Tbsp (15 mL) Mexican oregano<br />2 tsp (10 mL) cinnamon<br /><br />Method:<br />Put all of the ingredients in a jar and shake.<br /><br />Variation #2<br />Swap out the paprika for smoked paprika.<br />Grind a smoked chile - of your choice - and add to the mix.<br /><br />Variation #3<br />To either variation #1 or #2 add 1 Tbsp (15 mL) of cocoa powder.<br /><br /><br />**Tip: If you can’t find Mexican Oregano, use Marjoram, it has a flavour profile that’s closer than Mediterranean Oregano.
