The Blue House has tapped the deputy commissioner general (Min Gam-yong) Min Gab-ryong to head South Korea's police.<br /><br /><br />"The nominee will be formally appointed after a parliamentary confirmation hearing."<br /><br /><br />According to the Blue House, the nomination was based on the judgment that Min has a high level of understanding of the administration's security policy, after working alongside with the current commissioner general for months.<br />It said he's the right person to ensure the continuation of the government's efforts to bring about police reform.<br />Lee Chul-sung,... the current Commissioner General,.. is set to retire at the end of June. <br />
