Police in Moscow are questioning the driver of a taxi that drove up onto the pavement on Sunday and hit several people.<br />At least 8 pedestrians are reported to have been injured, but none of them critically.<br />Security camera footage from the scene show the cab veering out of traffic, where other cars had come to a stop, then accelerating into the pedestrians and finally hitting a lamppost.<br />The driver fled the scene pursued by several passers-by.<br />He is said by police to be a 28-year-old national from Kyrgyzstan.<br />A motive has been hard to pinpoint.<br />According to the mayor of Moscow, he lost control of the vehicle,... and Russia's Interfax news agency quoted an unnamed source saying he had fallen asleep at the wheel.<br />The local traffic authorities say he was not drunk.<br />But some media reports have eyewitnesses saying they think the man acted deliberately. <br />
