Jack Ma said he was inspired to create Alibaba by Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC).<br /><br />The Alibaba founder and executive chairperson said today that the first seed of idea for what would eventually become the global e-Commerce giant was planted when he read about the MSC almost 20 years ago.<br /><br />“I was reading the newspaper (in 1997) and saw the news about the MSC. I thought, wow, this is a genius idea.<br />“(I thought) if Malaysia could do this, why can’t China. Why can’t I do this for myself?<br /><br />“So Malaysia inspired me to create Alibaba,” he said during the launching of Alibaba’s first office in Southeast Asia office in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur, today.<br /><br />Read more: https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/430178
