Macedonia, Greece sign historic agreement on name change amid protests from nationalists

Macedonia and Greece have ended a 27-year-old dispute by signing a historic agreement that changes the name of the former Yugoslav republic to the Republic of North Macedonia.<br /> It was signed on Sunday at Lake Prespa, the border that separates both countries.<br />The accord paves the way for Macedonia to seek membership in the European Union and NATO.<br />However, nationalists from both sides are bitterly opposed to the name change and the deal must still be ratified in the parliaments of both nations. <br />
