<p>A video shared by Placer County Sheriff’s Office on June 20 shows a deputy smashing the window of a vehicle in Carnelian Bay, California, in order to free a bear that had become trapped inside.</p><p>This video shows the deputy smashing the window and backing away quickly, before the bear climbs out and runs to freedom.</p><p>The bear was inside a Subaru Outback and destroyed the interior so badly the doors couldn’t be unlocked, officials said. Deputies determined the safest way to free the bear was to break the window.</p><p>“Deputy Lade was brave enough to break the window, allowing the bear to jump out and flee into the forest,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
