Florida Police Dog Praised for Wrestling Gun From Suspect

<br /> <p>The newest K-9 of the Pensacola Police Department was praised</a> for potentially saving the lives of several officers on June 21 after the dog wrestled a loaded shotgun from a burglary suspect.</p><p>Police said the incident took place at midnight in a house on North K Street. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Oliver Hurst, is accused of breaking into his girlfriend’s house, armed with the shotgun.</p><p>Police say Hurst returned to his home and subsequently refused orders to surrender when police officers arrived at the scene. Hurst was pursued by police and the K-9, an 18-month-old German Shepherd called Foster, latched onto the shotgun and pulled it from his hands.</p><p>Hurst was tasered and taken into custody, police said.
