Magpie Entangled in Fishing Line-Turned-Nest Dies

<br /> <p>A stricken magpie has died after it was found tangled and injured in her fishing line-turned-nest in Melbourne. This June 25 video hows the bird.</p><p>Nigel Williamson, who runs Nigel’s Animal Rescue and Pest Control, had to scale a tree to reach the bird, which was entangled for hours.</p><p>“Magpie season has started early this year with entanglement. This female was building her nest and put fishing line into the nest. This is what happens with our rubbish.”</p><p>Wildlife rescuers WIRES</a> says magpies use rubbish to line their nests.</p><p>“The nests are a basket of sticks and stems lined with wool, hair, grass and often bits of plastic, string and wire,” according to the group.
