<p>Mount Agung, located on the Indonesian tourist island of Bali, erupted on Thursday, June 28, emitting a plume of volcanic ash that reached up to 6,500 feet (2,000 metres) above the volcano.</p><p>Spokesman of the National Disaster Management Authority Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said</a> the Ngurah Rai International Airport was operating normally but some airlines had cancelled flights.</p><p>The Jakarta Post reported</a> that the airport was assessing whether to temporarily halt operations and had issued a warning to airlines that ash may disrupt flights.</p><p>This time lapse footage shows the eruption on Thursday.
