Singapore Police Arrest 31 in World Cup-Related Illegal Gambling Raid

<p>The Singapore Police Force has released footage from a coordinated raid on several locations on July 2 which saw over S$1.2 million seized as part of a crackdown on illegal gambling surrounding the World Cup.</p><p>In all, 28 locations were raided and 31 arrests were made, police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation and Intelligence) Florence Chua said in a statement released to the Straits Times</a>, that the operation was part of “ongoing efforts to stamp out unlawful remote gambling.”</p><p>Chua said, “Police take a serious view against such activities and will continue to take tough enforcement actions against those who flout the law, including those who assist remote gambling syndicates in any way.”</p><p>Note: This story was originally published on July 3, and updated on July 9.
