<p>Thousands of people were ordered to evacuate</a> in Kyoto and Osaka prefectures on Thursday, July 5, due to increased risks of floods and mudslides as heavy rain continued to batter western Japan.</p><p>The Japan Meteorological Agency called</a> the rainfall “historic” and warned it could continue</a> through Sunday, July 8, in the Kinki region, which includes Kyoto, Hyogo and Osaka prefectures, causing more river flooding and landslides.</p><p>At least two people were killed, while several more were missing, NHK national television said</a>.</p><p>A bridge across the Katsura River and the riverside promenade of the Kamo River, both famous tourist spots in Kyoto, were closed</a>.</p><p>The video, which shows the high water level at the Katsura River, was shared online on Friday morning, June 6.</p><p>Typhoon Prapiroon entered the Sea of Japan days earlier before downgraded to an extra-tropical cyclone</a>.
