The hardtop coupé was especially designed for the 24 hours at Le Mans. In 2011 rules call for much smaller engines than before. Audi decided upon a 3.7 liter V6 TDI engine to power the R18, continuing to place its faith in diesel power, with which it was successful for the first time back in 2006.
