<p>A firefighter from the Mesa Fire Department rescued a woman from a car sunken in a canal on July 9.</p><p>The Mesa Fire Department said</a> that the woman, aged in her fifties, was able to survive in an air pocket inside the car until her rescue, and sustained minor injuries in the incident.</p><p>It was not immediately clear how the car came to be in the canal off Alma School Road in northwest Mesa.</p><p>The dramatic rescue was captured on camera by Merrill Brimley.
