Typhoon Maria Lashes Okinawa's Miyajima City

<br /> <p>Typhoon Maria pummeled Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture on July 10, bringing strong winds and rain that knocked out power in more than 13,000 households in Miyakojima City.</p><p>This footage shows a glimpse of the windy conditions and low visibility due to the storm. The uploader tweeted</a> that various structures in Miyakojima City, such as Irabuo Bridge</a>, which connects to nearby Irabu Island, were closed due to the weather.</p><p>According to a report from The Yomiuri Shimbun</a>, evacuation recommendations were issued to approximately 25,000 households throughout the city and at least one 40-year-old man was injured after winds knocked him to the ground. A 70-year-old woman in Urasoe City, another Okinawan city about an hour’s flight from Miyakojima, suffered similar injuries, and flights were cancelled throughout the region.
