<p>Chris strengthened into a Category 2 hurricane on Tuesday, July 10, but it remained well away from the US East Coast on Wednesday.</p><p>Chris was forecast</a> to travel northeast, away from the US coast, brushing near Newfoundland, Canada, by the weekend.
