Facing backlash over the harsh prohibition law, the Bihar government proposed an amendment to the law by fining first time offenders caught drinking liquor with Rs 50,000 or handing a three month jail term.<br /> <br />The state cabinet approved tabling the amendment in the state assembly during the upcoming monsoon session.<br /> <br />The first liquor offence would also be bailable and non-cognisible. Presently, it's a non-bailable offence.
