The vessel popularly known as Boaty McBoatface made its debut on Saturday in Liverpool.<br /><br />The hull of the new research ship, which is officially named Sir David Attenborough, was launched into the River Mersey where shipbuilders will get to work finishing the vessel.<br /><br />The launch of the hull was an important moment for the ship, whose development has been followed closely since an online campaign tried to get it named "Boaty McBoatface".
