If this video is anything to go by, British wildlife is struggling to cope with the recent heatwave.<br /><br />Jonty Wilson was driving home earlier this month in the North Pennines when he spotted a hedgehog lying by the side of the road.<br /><br />"I stopped the car and backed up to the animal. It hadn’t move and I thought it must be dead. After a closer look, I could see it was still breathing," Wilson said.<br /><br />Realising that the poor animal was merely exhausted from the soaring temperatures, Wilson picked it up and put it in some long grass in a nearby field to recover.
