In the wake of the announcement that there would be a fresh probe into the death of Teoh Beng Hock, law lecturer and activist Azmi Sharom calls on the government to ratify the United Nations Convention on Torture.<br /><br />He strongly questioned why Malaysia was not a signatory of the convention and why Malaysia had made reservations in other conventions when it came to sections outlining prevention of torture.<br /><br />Teoh Beng Hock, who was then the aide to DAP assemblyperson Ean Yong was found dead on the roof of the former Malaysian Anticorruption Commission building in July 2009.
