More Evacuations Issued as Substation Fire Burns Over 36,000 Acres in Oregon

<p>A wildfire that sparked on July 17 erupted</a> to a blaze of 36,000 acres near The Dalles, Oregon, by July 18, prompting residents to evacuate.</p><p>Evacuation orders were issued for the city of Moro</a> and the Macks Canyon area on July 18. Other areas were previously issued level 3 evacuations</a>.</p><p>About 75 households in Wasco County were also evacuated on July 17, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting</a>.</p><p>Oregon Governor Kate Brown invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act for the fire, dubbed the Substation Fire, on July 18.</p><p>“To ensure the safety of local residents, and given the dry and windy conditions on the ground, I am invoking an emergency declaration to make additional state resources available to firefighters and first responders,” Brown said, according to the Oregonian</a>.
