Trump says he's 'unhappy' with U.S. Fed's interest rate hike

As the political firestorm over his summit with Putin continues, President Trump has weighed in on his country's monetary policy. <br /> In an interview with CNBC that was broadcast on Thursday, Trump said he was unhappy about the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike amid his efforts to boost the economy. <br /><br /> "…..I'm not thrilled, because you know, we go up, and every time we go up, they want to raise rates again, and I don't really, uh, I am not happy about it……"<br /><br /> His remarks break more than 20 years of White House tradition of steering clear of comments on central bank policy and the value of the dollar. <br />The White House later issued a statement, saying Trump respects the Fed's independence and is not interfering with its policy decisions. <br />
