HBO has finally shed some light on the topic. Casey Bloys, HBO's programming president,<br />confirmed the following at <br />the Television Critics Association's <br />press tour in Beverly Hills on Wednesday. The final six episodes of the <br />last season of 'Game of Thrones' <br />will air in the "first half" of 2019. Though that's not super specific, it's still better than wondering "but when in 2019?" As far as the prequel goes, reports were coming in that it would start shooting in October, but that information is false. Bloys has confirmed that the <br />show won't even start shooting <br />until 2019, and they have yet <br />to cast and find a director.
