Cambodian officials were today (Saturday) preparing polling booths for Sunday's elections, which have been widely criticised as a 'sham'.<br /><br />The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) is running without a significant challenge after the main opposition party was made illegal last year. The leader was jailed and its MPs banned from politics for five years.<br /><br />Nineteen different parties are on the ballot sheets for the election tomorrow - but all are either linked to the CPP or are too small to make any significant impact.<br /><br />There have been claims of threats and intimidation of opposition leading up to the vote. <br /><br />Despite the concerns, foreign countries including the U.S., Australia and Japan have said they will not be sending in election monitors.
