남북 장성급 회담 종결, 공동보도문은 없고 JSA 비무장화, DMZ내 공동유해발굴, DMZ내 상호시범적 GP철수 원칙적 합의<br /><br /> Seoul and Pyongyang's generals met today.<br />A follow-through on agreements to ease military tensions, reached during the historic inter-Korean summit back in April.<br />The talks started at 10 a.m. local time, went on almost none stop till around 6:30pm.<br />Both sides were brimming with hope as they headed into the session.<br />Our Park Ji-won has been following the developments throughout the day, at the Office for Inter-Korean Dialogue.<br />Let's connect to her right now.<br />Ji-won let's hear about their final agreements.<br /><br /> Good evening, Daniel.<br />Today's talks have ended at around six thirty at the border village of Panmunjom,... without adopting a joint commuique.<br />However, both sides have come out with a few, significant agreements.<br /> The two Koreas agreed on the principle of disarming the Joint Security Area in the DMZ,... a joint recovery of war remains,... and the withdrawal of troops at some GPs as a pilot program.<br /> But the agreements, rather than being specific and detailed, were more of a mutual understanding. <br /> In addition, the South Korean delegation invited the North to this year's Seoul Defense Dialogue,... scheduled to take place from September 12th to the14th in Seoul. <br /><br /> This is the second time this year the delegations meet for talks on Tuesday, with the first one having taken place in mid-June. At that time, the two sides agreed to restore military communication channels on the western and eastern sides of the Peninsula.<br /><br /> The two delegations today were led by the same officials of last month's talks -- Major General Kim Do-gyun from the South and Lieutenant General Ahn Ik-san from the North,... who are both considered the same rank.<br />For now the two sides said they do not have any specific plans for another round of military talks soon.<br />Back to you, Daniel. <br />
