By the end of this year, it's likely that supermarkets and bakeries in Korea will be banned from giving their customers one-time-use plastic bags.<br />The environment ministry will be submitting a proposal to that effect in the next few days.<br /> It's already against the law to give out plastic bags of any kind for free, but this will ban them for one-time use entirely.<br />Shoppers will still have the option of paying for a bag that can be re-used at home for throwing out trash.<br />Otherwise, they can pack their groceries in the store's empty cardboard boxes or take a paper bag.<br />The Moon administration has stepped up its campaign against plastic waste since China stopped importing other countries' plastic to be recycled. <br />
