TOKYO — A Tokyo-based company is planning to launch a mobile mosque ahead of the 2020 Summer Olympics, reports Japan Today.<br /><br />The moving mosque takes the form of a large white and blue truck that expands into a place of worship.<br /><br />The back of the truck is able to flip open to reveal an entrance. The width of the truck would then double as the side of the truck slides out.<br /><br />A 48-square-meter room inside the truck should accommodate about 50 people at a time.<br /><br />Outdoor taps and a washing area would also be included in the mosque to allow worshippers to cleanse themselves before prayer.<br /><br />Yasuharu Inoue, the CEO of the project, said they want to share the idea of "omotenashi" or Japanese hospitality, with Muslim people.<br /><br />Inoue also said he hopes the mobile mosque will help Muslim visitors feel at home as it would be able to travel to different Olympic venues if necessary.<br /><br />Inoue said he was inspired to create a mobile mosque after a trip to Qatar a few years ago.
