<p>The National Weather Service</a> said the College Lake dam in Lynchburg, Virginia, was in danger of failing on August 2, as significant flooding wreaked havoc on the city.</p><p>The Lynchburg Department of Emergency Services</a> said the threat of the dam failing prompted evacuations for residents in the Blackwater Creek Trail area, with a temporary shelter set up at EC Glass High School.</p><p>WSLS reported</a> that in the event of a complete dam failure, the water depth could exceed 17 feet in seven minutes.</p><p>This video shows flooding in parts of Lynchburg and emergency crews evacuating residents from flooded areas.
