China threatens further tariffs on US$ 60 billion worth of U.S. imports

China has threatened to impose further tariffs on 60-billion-U.S. dollars worth of American products, refusing to back down in its escalating trade war with the U.S.<br />The Chinese Commerce Ministry on Friday listed 5-thousand-207 U.S. import products with proposed duties of 5 to 25-percent.<br />They include liquefied natural gas or LNG, metals and agriculture products, like flour and smoked beef.<br />Beijing said it has been, quote, "forced to act" after the Trump administration on Wednesday announced it was considering raising its proposed tariffs on 200-billion dollars worth of Chinese imports from 10 to 25 percent.<br />The White House has responded by saying Beijing's threats are weak and that the Chinese economy is in trouble.<br />Meanwhile, Beijing's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, met with his U.S. counterpart, Mike Pompeo at the ASEAN Foreign Minister's Meeting in Singapore on Friday.<br />He told reporters afterwards that Beijing is willing to resolve differences on an equal footing, but added that they did not speak much on the trade dispute. <br />
