<p>Toxic red tide algae has killed marine life across shores in southwest Florida, leaving beaches near Sanibel and Fort Myers covered in dead animals.</p><p>Footage posted on July 29 shows hundreds of dead fish and eels littering the shores near the Sanibel Causeway.</p><p>According to the Miami Herald</a>, Florida has been dealing with one of the worst red tides in decades.</p><p>Red tide is a a common name for a type of algae that undergoes explosive growth and begins producing toxins, siphoning the oxygen from the water and suffocating aquatic life.
