The moment an LGBTQ+ activist was detained by police in St. Petersburg after taking place in a picket outside one of the city's most famous tourist sites, the Winter Palace.<br /><br />In the clip, police approach activist Alexey Sergeev, seizing his sign and forcibly escorting him to a van by holding his arms and legs. Rainbow flags can be seen through the police van windows. <br /><br />Some 25 people were arrested at the unsanctioned rally on Saturday. Russia adopted legislation in 2013 banning the dissemination of "gay propaganda".<br /><br />The footage was recorded by local media 'Galetki'.
