Ivan Duque was sworn in as Colombia's 60th president on August 7.<br /><br />Thousands gathered in the historic enter of the capital Bogota for Duque's inauguration, according to local reports. <br /><br />Duque, a 42-year-old former senator, defeated left-leaning candidate, Gustavo Petro, in a presidential run-off in June with 54 percent of the vote. He is the youngest president in recent years.<br /><br />During the campaign, Duque promised to crack down on crime and armed groups, lower taxes for businesses, and fight corruption.
