Israel and Hamas agreed on a truce Thursday to end the recent escalation in fighting.<br />Hamas is the Islamist group that rules the Gaza Strip,<br />Israel designates Hamas as a terrorist organization and the two have fought three wars in the past decade.<br />On Wednesday night and Thursday, Israeli aircraft struck more than 150 targets in Gaza.<br />Meanwhile, Palestinian militants fired rockets including a long-range missile deep into Israel. <br />
