Firefighters tackle new 800-acre blaze northeast of Carr Fire

A new fire sparked in Shasta County on August 9, prompting evacuation orders for residents in the area as the flames drew closer.<br /><br />The blaze, dubbed the Hat Fire, burned in the Fall River Mills area, just northeast of Whiskeytown where the Carr Fire, scorched more than 150,000 acres and left seven dead.<br /><br />According to local media, the fire was spotted after 2:30 p.m. near Highway 299 and Fish Hatchery Road. At the time of writing, the fire was 0% contained.
