Londoners Cross Flooded Pavement Using Makeshift Chair Bridge

<p>Pedestrians outside Hammersmith underground station in London created a makeshift bridge out of chairs from a nearby coffee shop to get across flooded section of the road on August 9.</p><p>In footage shared on Twitter, people can be seen queuing to take turns walking over the chairs with others, safely on the dry side, waiting to lend a hand to help them down.</p><p>Eyewitness Hannah Steedman described the cooperative act as “ingenious” and “kind.”</p><p>Both entrances to Hammersmith Station were affected</a> by the flooding and the station was closed from just after 6 pm</a> until about 9 pm</a>.
