<br /> <p>Thousands of Romanians staged an anti-government protest in Bucharest’s Victory Square on August 10.</p><p>This video shows police officers with riot shields marching towards Victory Square.</p><p>Although largely peaceful, riot police reportedly</a> fired tear gas after protesters tried to break through security lines.</p><p>Romania’s national news agency reported up to 60,000 people attended the rally, according to Euronews</a>.</p><p>The protestors were calling for the resignation of the corrupt Social Democrat Party which leads the government, the Washington Post reported</a>.</p><p>An estimated three million Romanians live abroad, reportedly due, in part, to corruption, low wages and lack of opportunity.</p><p>The protest is the latest in a series of demonstrations against the government since it came to power two years ago.
