Senior police officers, including district police chiefs, will be required to attend English courses following an instruction by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to enhance their English proficiency.<br /><br />Inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said initially, 30 senior police officers across Peninsular Malaysia, have been selected to undergo the five-day course at the Royal Malaysia Police College in Kuala Lumpur.<br /><br />In a press conference later, Fuzi said Mahathir has also instructed and encouraged police officers to speak English during police briefings.<br /><br />Fuzi said the standard of English among police officers in the country were currently at a moderate level, and acknowledged there's room for improvement.
