Track damaged and traffic slowed after train derails in Pennsylvania borough

Crews responded to a train derailment in Windber, located around 80 miles east of Pittsburgh, on August 13.<br /><br />According to local media, the freight train veered off its tracks shortly before 7:30 pm, damaging the foundation of a house and startling neighbors in the residential area.<br /><br />One witness said at least one of the rail cars had tipped sideways at an angle, but was not toppled over. The disabled train stretched nearly a mile between 17th Street and Somerset Avenue and 5th Street,<br /><br />No injuries were reported and the cause of the derailment has not been determined.
