This was the astonishing moment locals went berserk - grabbing hundreds of bottles of brandy that fell from an overturned lorry.<br /><br />The truck was taking a sharp corner on a mountain road in Quezon province, Philippines, when it swerved to avoid an oncoming van and its side doors opened. <br /><br />Hundreds of boxes of Emperador Brandy spilled onto the road on August 12 at 10am - sparking frantic scenes as residents - including children - grabbed handfuls of liquor. <br /><br />The accident caused gridlock after blocking the road before dozens or drivers and locals converged on the wreckage to loot the liquor. <br /><br />Onlooker Ryan Oliva said: ''People were going crazy. Everybody wanted to get something. Brandy is expensive so some people were taking them to sell. Other people just wanted to drink it.<br /><br />''I felt sorry for the driver. The accident was not his fault. I watched what was happening but I didn't take any of the liquor.''<br /><br />According to Gumaca Municipal Police station, the truck was on its way to nearby province Bicol when it toppled over. <br /><br />The trailer doors suddenly opened sending boxes of brandy bottles on all directions, police said.<br /><br />A spokesman said: ''People who saw what happened casually took a bottle and called for others so they can help with the 'scavenging.' The accident caused commotion and a lot of traffic.''<br /><br />The total amount of damage is still unknown although no one was hurt during the incident.
