'Black-ish' Creator Kenya Barris Signs Multi-Million Dollar Netflix Deal The writer has officially signed a three-year deal with Netflix to produce an exclusive series. Barris experienced “creative differences” with ABC when the network didn’t air an episode centered around athletes kneeling during the national anthem. However, the Black-ish and Grown-ish creator will continue to serve as executive producer for both shows in spite of his new deal. Netflix has also signed big names like <br />Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy. With his Netflix deal, Barris is a part of television’s highest paid creators.
