Astronauts Played <br />First-Ever Tennis <br />Match in Space On Aug. 21, astronauts played space tennis. The match included NASA astronauts Drew Feustel, Ricky Arnold, Serena Auñón-Chancellor and European Space Agency astronaut Alexander Gerst. Feustel had been wanting <br />to do this for quite some time. Drew Feustel, commander of expedition 56, at NASA briefing The United States Tennis Association began <br />working on this idea with Feustel back in <br />December 2017. Their hope was to inspire young tennis players to take an interest in space. The match was projected on the Unisphere <br />in Queens, New York, which is where the <br />U.S. Open is being held from Aug. 21 to Sep. 9. The space-match <br />was also streamed <br />live online on the U.S. Open's Facebook, <br />Twitter and <br />YouTube channels. Aside from this being history in the making, it's also a great way for the astronauts to get in some of the <br />2 hours of exercise that they need per day to prevent their muscles and bones from deteriorating.
