PV Sindhu of India, ranked third in the world, coasted past her round of sixteen opponent, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia, winning in straight sets 21-12, 21-15.<br /><br />Understandably Sindhu was pleased at making a solid start to her campaign in the individual women's event.<br /><br />The week also brought cheer for Sindhu from outside the courts after the Indian was ranked seventh in the Forbes top-ten list of highest earning female athletes in the world.<br /><br />The list was topped by tennis star Serena Williams ($18 million US dollars), with Russia's Maria Sharapova ($9.5 million US dollars) in the fifth spot. Sindhu earned $8.5 million US dollars last year to stay seventh in the list.
