Now the latest from the Asian Games in Indonesia, where the unified South and North Korean canoeing team have won their first ever gold medal.<br />The South Korean team, separately, has also narrowed the gap with Japan in the medal count, but they're still in third place.<br />Seo Bo-bin reports. <br /><br /> The unified Korean canoeing team continued its historic run Sunday at the Asian Games by winning a gold medal in the women's 500-meter dragon boat race.<br />The 12 rowers from South and North, competing against five other teams, finished in 2-minutes and 24-point-788 seconds.<br />This was, in fact, the first time a unified South and North Korean team has won a gold medal at an international sporting event. And it was the first time the Korean folk song "Arirang" has been played at an awards ceremony.<br />But Unified Korean teams have been winners before -- 27 years ago, in 1991, the women won the World Table Tennis Championship.<br /><br /> In basketball, the unified Korean women's basketball team is going to the semifinals after beating Thailand on Sunday 106-to-63.<br />For the semifinals, they'll play Chinese Taipei on Thursday. <br /><br /> In other sports, South Korean climber Sa Sol came first in speed climbing, fourth in bouldering, and third in lead climbing, giving him a total of 12 points -- enough to win her a silver medal. <br />Her compatriot Kim Ja-in took bronze.<br /><br /> There are still more events scheduled for Sunday -- the men's baseball team will play a preliminary match at 8:30 p.m. Korea time, and there's the women's 100-meter hurdles final at 10:15. <br />Seo Bo-bin, Arirang News. <br />
