The United States has lashed out at Iran after Tehran asked the International Court of Justice to order the U.S. lift its sanctions imposed a few weeks ago.<br /> U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement on Monday that Washington would vigorously defend itself at the ICJ, calling Iran's filing at the court an attempt to interfere with America's national security. <br />Tehran filed the case at the UN's highest court last month claiming the Trump administration's sanctions were in breach of a 1955 treaty that regulates economic and consular ties between the two countries. <br />The sanctions were imposed after President Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Iran nuclear deal. <br />
